Police searching for missing driver after M6 crash find body

Police searching for a man, who has not been seen for almost three weeks after his car crashed through a barrier on the M6, have found a body.

Zahid Mirza's car crashed through the barrier on the southbound carriageway between junctions 4A and 5 on January 15.

The car was abandoned and it's been revealed that the 40-year-old from Chelmsley Wood, had not been seen by his family since.

Following two days of intensive searching, a man's body was discovered in an inaccessible area of waste ground adjacent to the motorway.

The body has not been formally identified but family liaison officers have notified Mr Mirza’s family.

A post mortem examination will take place soon to establish the cause of death.
