Attempted armed robbery leaves staff shaken

Officers investigating an attempted armed robbery in Oswestry are trying to trace potential witnesses.

It happened at around 8.45 on Sunday evening in the Top Shop convenience store in the Laburnum Drive area.

During the incident a man entered the shop and is reported to have pointed a knife at a member of staff before demanding the contents of the till.

The member of staff approached the man who fled on foot down an alleyway in the direction of Cherry Tree Drive.

The man is described as white, in his 30s, of medium build and around 5ft 6in tall.

He was wearing a black tracksuit, black gloves, dark-coloured trainers and a black North Face coat with the hood up and a scarf wrapped around his face.

No money was handed over and nothing was taken but the member of staff was left shaken by the ordeal.
