The family of a Leicester man who died in a crash caused by an uninsured driver say they have been left distraught after thieves stole a wreath they left in his memory.

Dave Anger, who was 24, was killed when the car he was travelling in smashed into a tipper truck at the junction of Fosse Road South and Upperton Road on March 9 last year.

Last week, Mr Anger's family left a wreath at the scene to mark the anniversary of his death.

But, within an hour, it had been taken. CCTV cameras caught a couple with a child picking the wreath up and walking away with it.

It comes as the man responsible for the crash, Guy Tomlinson, appeared in court and Kayleigh Anger, Mr Anger's sister, says the theft has added to the anguish they were already feeling.

Yesterday, Tomlinson was jailed for nine years at Leicester Crown Court for causing the deaths of Mr Anger and another man by dangerous driving.

Leicestershire Police say they are aware of the theft and are investigating.
