'Major incident' declared as crews fight Worcester fire

Residents are being urged to avoid an industrial estate in Worcester where fire crews are currently fighting a serious fire.

People in the area are being warned to keep their windows closed because of the thick smoke being produced by the flames.

Police have declared the fire to be a 'major incident' and have put road closures in place in the surrounding area.

"Officers from West Mercia Police are at the scene of a significant fire on Blackpole industrial estate where they are assisting Hereford and Worcester Fire Service with road closures.

"The fire has been declared a major incident.

"Significant road closures are in place and we advise drivers to avoid the area and residents to keep their windows and doors closed.

"More details will be published when available."
