Celebrations for Shakespeare’s 453rd Birthday in Stratford-upon-Avon, Warwickshire are underway.
Hundreds of people have taken to the streets in the Bard's home town to take part in the traditional Birthday Parade.
The procession will include brass bands, people in period costume, dignitaries and VIP guests joining community groups and schoolchildren.
Students of Shakespeare’s own King Edward’s School will also make their way through the town centre to lay flowers on the playwrights grave.
Traditional ceremonies take centre stage as the procession pauses to witness the handing over of the Quill representing his legacy.
There will also be an unfurling of flags along Bridge Street, High Street and Henley Street.
