An 18-year-old woman has had a lucky escape when a tree fell and landed on a car in Dudley.

Emergency crews were called to the scene on Uplands Drive in Sedgley at around 2.20pm on Wednesday.

The teenager was taken to hospital as a precaution after suffering a head injury.

A spokesperson for West Midlands Ambulance Service said:

A teenager had managed to get herself out of the car. She was taken to Russells Hall Hospital with a minor head injury.

Firefighters at the scene said the fallen tree had also affected phone lines.

The incident happened after the West Midlands was hit by gusty conditions during the first half of the week.
