Preparations underway for UK's biggest Asian festival

Thousands of people are expected to head to Victoria Park in Smethwick on 1-2 July for the Sandwell & Birmingham Mela 2017.

The Asian festival combines live international music performances, stalls, food, arts, community showcases, workshops and a funfair.

70,000 people attended the two-day festival last year and now the event is hoping to attract people from across the region and further afield.

More than 100 artists and groups are set to perform at the event including Bollywood actor Tiger Shroff and singer Zack Knight.

Danny Singh, Director of ZEE Sandwell & Birmingham Mela, said:

The Mela is a create opportunity for all communities to come together and celebrate South Asian culture in the heart of UK.

We always ensured that the Mela is the very best summer experience in the UK for the community and this year will be more exciting as we bring more highly innovative programming and experiences to the Mela

Road closures and parking restrictions will be in place on the following roads on event days between 11.30 and 19.00:
