Dancer with Down's Syndrome "proud" to perform on stage

A dancer from Nottingham, who has Down's Syndrome, has had her dreams of performing on the big stage come true.

Beth Gardiner, 22, is touring the country with the prestigious National Youth Dance Company, which is based in London.

ITV News Central first met Beth two years ago when she told us she imagined being on stage when she danced in front of her bedroom mirror.

She has come a long way since then. Beth passed an audition last year and is now performing in her first show, called "Tarantiseismic".

Beth's talents were first spotted as part of a study into attitudes towards disabled dancers.

With the support of the National Youth Dance Company, she has now become more independent, and had the chance to shine.

Our correspondent Peter Bearne has been talking to her:

Beth's show is now on a national tour and comes to the Curve Theatre in Leicester this weekend.
