A 10-week-old puppy who was abandoned in a box by the roadside has found a new home.

Peanut was discovered when a passer-by heard crying coming from the box on the A446 in Berkswell.

Despite her ordeal, Peanut was not injured or visibly distressed.

She has spent a week the local kennels, and has found a new owner just hours after she became being available for rehoming.

The Dog's Trust charity said there was a huge response from members of the public who wanted to give Peanut a new home.

135
offers to re-home Peanut within a few hours

She had landed on her paws with a local family with children and will be heading off to her new home in a few days.

Whilst it’s a happy ending for Peanut, we would always encourage anyone who needs to give up their dog for whatever reason to come in to the centre to talk this through with our staff.

By handing them over in this way, we are able to know a little more about the dog’s history, exactly how old they are or what sort of socialisation and training they have had. That all helps us to find them the best home.
