Seven people injured in motorway crash

Seven people, including two young children, have been taken to hospital following a crash on the M6 in the early hours.

The collision involved several vehicles on the northbound carriageway, between junctions 5 and 6. It happened at around 1.45am.

A paramedic officer, MERIT with a doctor and critical care paramedic on board, HART paramedics and six ambulances were called to the scene.

A man in his thirties suffered a serious head injury after reportedly being thrown from a vehicle. He was rushed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham

Six other people were taken to hospital, 19-year-old girl suffered a head injury and lost consciousness.

When ambulance staff arrived they worked quickly as a team to triage those involved to establish the seriousness of their injuries. Of those involved, a total of seven patients required treatment on scene.
