Thousands of mourners have paid their final respects to a pioneering black Bishop who started an international church movement from Birmingham in the 1950s.
In 1955, Bishop Sydney Alexander Dunn created the Bethel United Church of Jesus Christ Apostolic in Handsworth, after he emigrated to the UK from Jamaica as part of the Windrush generation.
Today his congregations from all over the world packed into the Bethel Convention Centre in West Bromwich.
The 2,500 seater venue is the culmination of the Bishop’s life vision to create an international church and to inspire future generations.Gospel choirs praised the Bishop's life over 4 hours, before crowds followed on to Handsworth Cemetery, where Bishop Dunn was laid to rest in the family tomb by his wife.
