A man has been arrested after more than 50 mobile phones were reported stolen at a city centre gig on Saturday (18 November).

The thefts took place during a Royal Blood gig held at The Arena Birmingham.

A total of 53 stolen phones were recovered from the 22-year-old man, who was arrested on suspicion of theft on nearby Broad Street.

Officers are now appealing for people who attended the gig and had their phone stolen to contact them.

Detective Sergeant Jeff Clifford from Force CID, said:

It’s an unfortunately a reality that large crowds at concerts such as this make rich pickings for career criminals. We’re hot on the heels of these offenders but you can also reduce your chances of falling victim to such crimes by remaining extra vigilant when attending busy events.

– Detective Sergeant Jeff Clifford, west midlands police

The force is urging anyone who lost their phone during the concert to contact them.
