Rail strikes are expected to cause disruption on some services in the Midlands on New Year's Eve.

A 24-hour walkout by RMT members may cause delays and cancellations on South Western Railway (SWR) and CrossCountry trains.

The CrossCountry dispute is over rosters and Sunday working.

CrossCountry advise you to travel as early as possible, as services will finish earlier than normal and some stations will have no service.

More information on where tickets are being accepted can be found on the CrossCountry trains website.

Which routes are affected?

  • Cardiff Central to Cheltenham Spa (ATW services operate as normal)

  • Derby to Nottingham

  • Stafford to Manchester Piccadilly via Crewe

  • Leicester to Cambridge (limited service)
