Aston Villa were victorious in today's second city derby against Birmingham City, thanks to two second half goals.
Birmingham City made the short trip to Villa Park, in the hope of stalling their rivals' promotion bid which has been gathering pace thanks to six wins back-to-back in the Championship.
Despite Villa's dominance, the first-half finished 0-0, but on 60 minutes the deadlock was broken by top goalscorer, Albert Adomah, who finished from inside the box to score his 13th league goal of the season.
Conor Hourihane then doubled the host's advantage with a dipping volley to seal the victory for Villa.
Salt was then rubbed into the wounds for Birmingham as Cheikh N'Doye was sent off in the 94th minute following an altercation with Mile Jedinak.
The game finished 2-0 to Aston Villa which sees them move into an automatic promotion place and extend their winning streak to seven wins in a row.
Birmingham City sit in 20th place, just two points above the relegation zone.
