Manufacturing giant JCB has announced it is creating 600 news jobs in the next three months in its Staffordshire and Derbyshire plants.

Over 200 operatives including welders, paint sprayers and assemblers are needed immediately in the company’s plants in Rocester, Cheadle, Rugeley and Foston.

In 2009, the firm cut almost 700 positions because of a drop in demand.

JCB’s Chief Operating Officer Mark Turner said that the job growth will strengthen the region’s economy:

We know the cities of Stoke-on-Trent, Derby and surrounding towns have people with the skills we need, and in return they can expect excellent rewards.
