Two men and woman released after racist chants at Nottingham Trent University

Two men and a woman have been released under investigation after a black student recorded racist abuse being chanted outside her room at Nottingham Trent University.

A minute-long video of the incident, which police are now treating as a hate crime, was posted on Twitter.

In the clip, at least two men can be heard chanting "we hate the blacks" and making other racist comments.

The two 18-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of racially aggravated public order offences and the 18-year-old woman was interviewed in connection with the incident.

They have all been released under investigation while police conduct further enquiries‎.

A Nottinghamshire Police spokesperson said:

We are continuing our investigation and will continue speaking to witnesses over the coming days and working with the university. ‎

Nottingham Trent University said it was shocked and appalled by the video, and is conducting a full investigation.
