Police are appealing for information after a kitten was abused and tied up with parcel tape and cable ties.
The animal had its feet bound with the ties and was intended to be used as bait for the abusers’ dogs and ferrets, police say.
The four or five males responsible for abusing the cat are described as wearing tracksuits and in their early 20s or 30s.
The incident occurred in woodlands between Unstone Green, Chesterfield and the A61 at Sheepsbridge Industrial estate in Derbyshire.
The kitten was saved by a concerned passing member of the public and is now safe and well.
It is now living with a new owner who found the animal and is now caring for her.
