A 20-year-old man is in a life-threatening condition after suffering multiple stab wounds to his chest and stomach at a Birmingham pub.

Police said the incident, which happened at around 1.30am on Saturday, had no link to the Birmingham Pride celebrations taking place this weekend.

No arrests have yet been made and no weapon has been recovered in connection with the stabbing at The Kerryman pub, in the Digbeth area.

Police say they will have extra patrols in the area to reassure people in the area and are appealing for any witnesses.

Officers are viewing CCTV and conducting enquiries with people in the vicinity.

We're working hard to establish the circumstances around the stabbing and the scene is currently closed while forensic examination is carried out.

With this being a busy area, we believe there will be a number of people who may have vital information to assist our enquiries.

I would urge anyone who hasn't spoken to officers to contact us.
