An eight-year-old boy from Leicester has died after a crash on the M6.
It happened between junctions 6 and 5 southbound at around 7:30pm on Thursday.
Emergency services were alerted to the crash between a lorry and a red Toyota Yaris car, which is believed to have stopped on the hard shoulder.
Other people travelling in the car were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A 62-year-old lorry driver from Hampshire arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving has been released pending further investigation
Police are appealing for information.
