Tonight on ITV Central we begin a new series "Live and Learn" looking at how a charity is working with 200 of the hardest-to-reach teenagers in Nottingham to help them fulfil their potential in school.
Our Education Correspondent Peter Bearne will be following the progress of one of the students, 15 year old Morgan Warmington, as she prepares to take her GCSEs next summer.
Meet Morgan - bubby, outgoing - and a typical 15-year-old schoolgirl, into music, fashion and hanging out with her friends.
She's got dreams of becoming an actress, but by her own admission, at times she's been guilty of a little too much "playing up" and "dramatics" in the classroom. Like the time she pushed her friend Jakub's chair over in a lesson - he saw the funny side, by the way, while the teacher didn't see anything at all.
Now, Morgan's school, Ellis Guilford in Basford in Nottingham, have put her in touch with the charity ThinkForward which supports students at risk of underachieving by giving them one-to-one coaching. It claims to have had great results in London, where it started, with more than 8 out of 10 students going on to further education, training or a job.
Morgan's already struck up a good relationship with her coach, Dalj - although they have their good days and their bad days. It's Dalj's job to keep Morgan on top of her studies and make sure her attitude's right as those dreaded GCSEs get closer and closer.
Over the next twelve months, I'll be giving regular updates on how Morgan's doing - there'll be school reports, mock exams and help away from school with things like careers, home life and preparing for the big wide world outside. All of it building towards GCSE Results Day on 15 August 2019, when hopefully we'll have a story with a happy ending.
Good luck Morgan and good luck Dalj- we can't wait to see how you get on!
