Police launch search for 'running man' after murder of 86-year-old woman

Police have launched an appeal to find a 'running man' they believe may have vital information about the murder of an 86-year-old woman.

Emergency services were called to Aubrey Road, Small Heath just after 11am on 12 July and found Riasat Bi with stab wounds.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Two other people who were also injured are still in hospital, where their condition is described as critical but stable.

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police are now seeking information about a man seen running down Aubrey Road shortly after the fatal stabbing.

The man is described as Asian, around 5ft 10ins tall and of slim build.

He was wearing dark clothing and a baseball cap.

Detective Inspector Harry Harrison of Harborne CID said:

A man was seen running from Aubrey Road into Coventry Road between 11am and 11.30am.

He then ran into Malmesbury Road, along Oldknow Road and into Waverley Road, where he was last seen by the bridge.

We believe this man may have information that may help us to understand what happened, and are keen to know if anyone saw him that night.
