Man charged over hit and run involving mum and baby

A man has been charged, after a mum and her new-born baby were struck by a car in a hit and run.

A 28-year-old mother was pushing her baby in a pram when the incident happened on Walsall Road in Great Barr in September last year.

The woman suffered a serious head injury and multiple fractures and spent several days in hospital.

The driver fled the scene.

33-year-old Andrew Rose, from Trinity Road in Aston was arrested on Sunday morning and later charged with causing serious injury by dangerous driving, grievous bodily harm and driving without a licence or insurance.

He appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court today, where he was remanded into prison.

He will next appear at the crown court on 22 August.
