D-Day veterans honoured to receive France's highest military award

Two D-Day veterans have been awarded France's highest order of merit earlier today.

At a special ceremony at Birdingbury near Rugby, 95-year-old Bill Cowley and Ron Trenchard, who is 100-years-old, were given the Legion d'Honneur.

The award is France's highest military award and recognises the service of British service personnel during the Second World War.

Bill was 19-years-old when he trained in Derby and Ron enlisted at the Coventry recruiting office as a 21-year-old.
