Tribute to 18-year-old who had a 'reputation for being loyal and respectful'

People have been paying their respects to teenager Thomas Jones after a body was found in the River Severn in Worcester yesterday (Friday 28 September).

The teenager, from Bromsgrove, had disappeared in the early hours of 19 September after a night out during his first week at the University of Worcester.

Hundreds of people had joined officers in their search for Thomas.

The tribute at Bromsgrove Sporting FC, where Thomas had played for a number of the junior teams, saw players wear black armbands as a mark of respect.

In a statement released by Bromsgrove Sporting FC yesterday, they said:

Tom played for a number of our junior teams from under 13s to under 18s and had a reputation for being both loyal and respectful.

He was one of our own and well-known to a number of people involved with Bromsgrove Sporting.

The thoughts of everyone at the Club are with those who were close to him and we share the sorrow of his friends and family at this difficult time.
