A prolific paedophile from Birmingham who was jailed for 32 years has had his sentence reduced.
Dr Matthew Falder, who worked as an academic at Birmingham University duped his victims into sending compromising images of themselves which he then blackmailed them with.
It is believed he abused more than 40 victims over an eight year period.
In October last year Falder pleaded guilty to 137 offences including:
- Causing the sexual exploitation of a child
- Making and distributing indecent images of children
- Encouraging the rape of a four-year-old
The Cambridge University graduate launched an appeal against his sentence, which he argued was "manifestly excessive."
Judges at the Court of Appeal have today (16th October) reduced his sentence to 25 years.
