Ex-footballer now TV presenter Dion Dublin has shared his shock at being racially abused in the Midlands.
The former Coventry City and Leicester City player tweeted: "I honestly thought we were getting somewhere but obviously not, there's still that minority that have a lack of EDUCATION & RESPECT!"
He said the abuse came from a woman in her late 20s or early 30s.
The 49-year-old played for Coventry between 1994 and 1998. He signed for Leicester in the summer of 2004.
Derbyshire Police have replied to Dion's tweet saying:
"Hi Dion, did you report this to us? We're keen to hear from you so we can investigate this. Could you please call us on 101 or send a direct message to @DerPolContact? Thank you."
Following the tweet, hundreds of people have come forward to show their support.
