Children among four injured in 'severe' house fire

A five year-old boy has suffered "very serious" injuries after a house fire in Warwickshire.

The boy was taken to hospital after the blaze at Wentworth Road in Rugby just before 3am this morning (Thursday).

Two other children were taken to Birmingham Children's Hospital, although their injuries were "less serious".

A woman also suffered serious injuries and was taken to Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham.

Warwickshire Police are treating the fire as "suspicious" and appealing for anyone who saw anything in the area to get in touch.

All three emergency services responded to the call.

The fire service says the cause of the blaze is unknown but they are working with the police to find out.
