Around two thousand people had to flee a music venue in Nottingham last night after a suspected smoke flare was set off in the crowd. There have also been reports of tear gas or pepper spray being used, and emergency services had to treat twenty people for minor injuries at the scene outside the Rock City gig venue.

There were reports of people vomiting and crying, and some of those who attended the gig have told ITV Central that they had to be carried out of the venue because they couldn't see clearly.

Nottinghamshire Police say they were called to reports of a smoke flare being discharged in the venue at approximately 9:30pm on Saturday (16 Nov) and they're now speaking to witnesses and reviewing cctv to determine what happened.

"It is usual for events like these to be recorded on mobile phones and cameras and officers are appealing to anyone with footage in and around the venue at the time of the incident to contact us. We are treating this incident extremely seriously; however officers are not considering this to be a terror related.
