Traffic warden attacker jailed after "violent" assault

A man who was part of a gang-of-four who violently attacked a traffic warden in Birmingham has been jailed for nine months.

Danyal Bashir from Alum Rock, was part of the group who assaulted the 21-year-old traffic warden who was on his phone to a colleague. It happened on the 14th September this year.

The group had told the warden he did not belong on ‘their land’. The warden was dragged from his moped on Hartopp Road, pushed over and repeatedly stamped on his head. His moped was then stolen, and he was left injured in the road.

Bashir was arrested and pleaded guilty to assault by causing actual bodily harm. He was sentenced at Birmingham Crown Court.

Another man, Maneeb Shah, who's 20 and from Birmingham, has also been charged with assault. He'lll appear at court at a later date.
