Birmingham's bin collectors have vowed to vote to strike over Christmas.
At a noisy mass meeting this afternoon, Unite members made their feelings known over what they say were secret payments made to colleagues in the GMB union, following last year's strikes.
Unite says the payments were a thank-you for not striking - a claim the GMB union and Birmingham City Council deny. Today Birmingham City Council posted employee notices in all four of its refuse depots, admitting that payments were indeed made to GMB bin workers - but denying they were in lieu of them not joining last year's strikes.
The council told ITV News Central: "GMB did initiate the legal process against the council for a failure to consult claim. The Council went into talks with ACAS and the GMB union which then led to a settlement payment for the GMB Trade Union."
