A fire at the takeaway and restaurant Big John's in Leicester broke out this morning forcing a major road closure during rush hour.

It's thought the fire started at the rear of the premises before bursting out the front of the building around the takeaway's sign.

Fire crews were on the scene at 7.30am. Humberstone road near St George's retail park was closed in both directions from Dysart Way to St George's Way.

All roads have now been re-opened.

This morning while I was on my way to work I saw the fire and the smoke coming out of the building at about 7.30am. By the time the firefighters came, it was getting bigger and bigger. The fire was coming out of the roof of the restaurant. It looks very bad.
