Sean Fitzgerald, 31, died when he was shot during an operation by West Midlands Police.

A report out today (8th January) also found he died after receiving 'a single gunshot wound to the chest' at a house in Burnaby Road just before 6.30pm.

No firearms were recovered from the property.

The IOPC also confirmed that Fitzgerald was shot as he emerged from the rear of the property while other officers were entering the front.

He died a short time later.

Investigations are continuing which are examining body-worn footage from a number of officers.

Witness statements are also being taken from all of the police officers who were part of the operation, including the officer who fatally shot Fitzgerald.
