Investigation into Tamworth fire shows it was started deliberately

An investigation into the fire at a hospital in Tamworth has found that it was started deliberately.

Police were called to George Bryan Medical Centre on Plantation Lane, Mile Oak on Monday night (11 February) at 9.15pm.

10 pumps were in attendance including the Aerial Ladder Platform from Longton.

The crews evacuated 20 people including patients and staff. Patients were transferred to other local medical centres.

We conducted a thorough investigation of the scene with colleagues from West Midlands Fire Service and Staffordshire Police forensics officers and we believe the fire to have been started deliberately.
