How Forest Nurseries are encouraging children to spend more time outdoors

As part of our Winter Wellbeing series, our reporter Jane Hesketh went to a Forest nursery in Leicestershire to find out how they are encouraging children to spend more time outdoors.

Their philosophy is that children who spend time outdoors doing activities, are fitter, healthier and more resilient.

I think it’s massively important, especially as children spend more and more time indoors on gadgets and things.

If you get it from an early age they are more likely to be active throughout their childhood and hopefully into their adult years as well.

The Forest school model originated in Scandinavia and is becoming more popular in the UK.
