A 'dangerous' dog has been shot by police in Telford.

Police say they were called just before 9am this morning to reports of a dog attacking two people near Langley Fold in Dawley.

The injuries are not thought to be serious.

Police say the dog was 'dangerously out of control' and was shot by armed officers.

In a statement West Mercia Police said:

"Public safety is our utmost priority and unfortunately due to the extremely agitated nature of the dogs behaviour it was necessary for police to take action to ensure no one else was injured.
