Dog owner reunited with stolen pets after paying £5,000 reward

A dog owner has been reunited with her stolen pets after paying a £5,000 reward.

Katy Mercer from Sutton Cheney in Leicestershire was distraught after her two beloved Chihuahuas, Dinky and Doris, were taken from the boot of her car four months ago.

In a desperate hunt to find them Katy put up thousands of posters and banners. She also offered a £1,000 pound reward, eventually rising to £5,000.

Then last week while she was on holiday in Greece, Katy's friend Lisa Dean called her to say a woman had been in touch via social media, claiming she had the two dogs.

After driving to an address in the West Midlands, Lisa had to wait for Katy to transfer over the £5,000 pound reward, before Dinky & Doris were handed over. The pair were then taken to the airport where they were reunited with Katy.

Dinky and Doris's case isn't new. Every year hundreds of dogs are stolen, some to order, and others for breeding purposes.
