Man shot dead in Birmingham named as James Teer

A 20-year-old man who was shot dead in Birmingham has been named as James Teer.

West Midlands Police said Mr Teer was gunned down in Goosemoor Lane, Erdington- a short walk from home where he lived with his parents on Thursday (8 August).

He was pronounced dead at the scene. A post mortem examination is due to take place today (9 August).

Birmingham Police Superintendent Sarah Burton said:

We have a specially trained family liaison officer supporting James' loved ones; they are totally devastated and inconsolable; they can't comprehend what's happened and want answers.

This was an outrageous act in the early evening on one of our streets. One young man has lost his life and we are determined to bring the people responsible to justice.

The murder investigation is still ongoing.
