Lorry stolen by 'masked men' and man taken 'against his will' during burglary at factory

A lorry has been stolen and a man 'taken against his will' during a burglary at a factory in Leicestershire.

The Dune London factory in Whetstone was sealed with police tape and a police car outside the gates.

Police were called to the premises on Cambridge Road at 3.25am on Monday 19 August to reports of a burglary.

A man, who was in the factory at the time, was taken against his will in a car. Police say the man was then located in the West Midlands area, without any serious injuries.

In a statement, Leicestershire Police said:

Police were called at 3.25am today following a report of a burglary at a premises in Cambridge Road, Whetstone. A number of masked men are reported to have entered the premises and a lorry was stolen. A man, who was in the premises at the time, was taken against his will in a car. He was subsequently located in the West Midlands area where he reported to police. He has not suffered any serious injuries and currently remains safe with officers. An investigation is ongoing. Anyone with any information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 58 of 19 August.”

The Dune Group, which specialises in shoes, released the following statement:

We can confirm that over the weekend our distribution centre has suffered a break-in.

Police are on site and we are unable to make any further comment pending the outcome of their investigations.

Our priority at this time is of course to support our staff and customers, and we will return to normal operations as soon as is possible.”
