The Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham has declared a 'critical incident' after a small fire broke out at the hospital.

It happened this morning (23 August). The fire resulted in a partial power loss.

Nottingham University NHS Trust is asking people not to go to its emergency department over the weekend unless it is absolutely necessary.

Patients are advised to use the Urgent Care Centre in Nottingham's city centre, GP services, local pharmacies or call 111.

We will remain on Incident status overnight and until at least Saturday morning, with robust contingency plans in place to maintain safe services as we work to restore full power as quickly as possible
