Firefighter seriously injured in training exercise

A firefighter is thought to have suffered life-changing injuries during a training exercise.

Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service has confirmed that two firefighters, based at Stafford Fire Station, were injured on Sunday 29 September while carrying out rope rescue training at Harpur Hill, near Buxton in Derbyshire.

Both firefighters were taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital where one is still being treated for his injuries, which the service says are potentially life-changing.

The second was discharged with minor injuries.
