A murder investigation has been launched following the death of a woman at a house in Leicester.

Emergency services were called to a property in Bartholomew Street shortly after 8.30am today Tuesday 8 October following reports that a woman had been seriously injured inside. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

A cordon was put in place Bartholomew Street while enquiries were carried out. No arrests have been made at this time.

Detective Inspector Mark Sinski from East Midlands Special Operations Unit said:

Our investigation is very much in its early stages and officers remain in the area carrying out enquiries.

“ am, however, also appealing for public help and would like to speak to anyone who has information about the incident.

As this happened shortly after 8.30am, I would be particularly keen to speak to anyone who was leaving for work or taking their children to school. Did you see anyone leaving the address in Bartholomew Street or acting in a manner that caught your attention?

I would like to speak to anyone who drove through Bartholomew Street this morning – or who was driving in the surrounding area – and who has a dashcam in their vehicle.

Any information you have, no matter how insignificant you think it may be, could help my investigation.”
