ITV News Central launches daily General Election digital news service

ITV News Central has launched a new digital service which will air during the General Election campaign.

60 Sec Elec will round up the biggest National and Midlands political stories of the day in one minute, providing an evening briefing for people on the go.

It will publish every weekday evening up until the General Election on December 12th.

The Labour party's National Executive Committee has banned Chris Williamson, the former Derby North MP, from standing as a Labour candidate. He's previously been suspended from the party for his comments over antisemitism.Roger Godsiff can't stand either for Birmingham Hall Green. He's previously been reprimanded by the party for backing parents opposed to LGBT+ teaching in his constituency.

The North West Leicestershire Conservative candidate, and former MP, has apologised after defending Tory Jacob Rees-Mogg - who suggested the Grenfell fire victims lacked common sense.

Andrew Bridgen later tweeted he didn't want to add to the pain of the tragedy.

In Telford today, Jeremy Corbyn said that Labour is well organised, well prepared and "utterly determined" to win the General Election.

Boris Johnson visited the Queen to formally end Parliament for the campaign, gave a speech about proposed investment in the NHS and policing, and will launch the Conservative campaign in Birmingham this evening.
