A co-op store in Moira has been ram raided in an attempt to steal its cash machine.

The police received a call shortly before 4:30am this morning (Thursday 21 November) from a member of the public reporting that a vehicle had been driven into the side of the building.

When officers arrived, they found two vehicles – a telehandler and a coach – abandoned at the scene. The cash machine was not removed from the building and nothing else is believed to have been taken.

“Our investigation is very much in its early stages and I would like to speak to anyone who has information about this incident. “Were you in Shortheath Road at around 4.30am today? Were you making your way to work or returning home from a night shift? Do you have a dashcam installed in your vehicle? “I’d also like to speak to anyone who lives in or close to Shortheath Road and either noticed anything suspicious or has CCTV at their property. “Any information you have could assist our enquiries.”
