The RSPCA is appealing for information after a French Bulldog was found abandoned by the side of a road.

The female dog, who has now been named Oola, was found in Coalville on November 30 this year. She was reportedly shaking with fear when a member of the public found her and called the RSPCA.

She was taken to the vets and was found to be underweight. She also appeared to have been overbred, and she wasn't microchipped.

The eight-year-old is now in the care of RSPCA Leicestershire (Woodside Animal Centre) and she will stay there until she has reached a healthy weight. She will then be put up for adoption.

“I believe this poor dog has been used for breeding purposes and then has been left abandoned - as no owner has come forward to claim her.

“She was underweight and in need of treatment for a skin condition.

She was also petrified when she was found and for the first few days was scared of noises and people but thankfully staff at the centre have helped her grow in confidence and she really loves a fuss.

“It is despicable that someone could simply leave a dog at the side of a road - it must have been terrifying for her and I am appealing for anyone who can help trace the person responsible to contact the RSPCA appeals line on 0300 123 8018.”
