Man arrested after 10-year-old boy stabbed in Leicester

Police in Leicester have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of attempted murder after a 10-year-old boy was stabbed in Leicester.

The child was with his mother when he was approached by a man who attacked him before running off from the scene. It happened at around 5.20 pm on Saturday on Belper Street in the city.

The boy was treated in hospital and has since been discharged.

Officers investigating the attack have also linked it to two other incidents in the area during the past week.

One is reported to have taken place at around 7.15 pm on Tuesday 14 January, in Doncaster Road, Leicester, when a woman in her 30s suffered a cut to the back of the head.

Two days later, on Thursday 16 January, a man in his 70s was found with wounds to his head and hands in Dean Street, Leicester.
