Murder investigation launched after man's body found in an allotment

A murder investigation has been launched after a man's body was found in an allotment in Derbyshire.

Officers were called to an allotment off Prospect Drive in Shirebrook at around 10am on Sunday (26 January).

On arrival they discovered a man and he was pronounced dead.

He had suffered injuries that would suggest that he had been assaulted.

A post mortem examination of the body took place this afternoon (27 January).

A formal identification has not yet taken place and enquiries are ongoing to identify the man’s family.

We are appealing to anyone that may have heard any noise or disturbance between 10.30pm on Saturday, 25 January and 10.30am on Sunday, 26 January around the Prospect Drive area to contact us.
