A family has been left distraught after their dog was stolen from a village pub, just weeks after she gave birth to three puppies.

Mum Lauren Wright said:

“She was my baby. My children are distraught.

“I just keep myself busy because if I think about it I become a mess.”

– Lauren Wright:

Miniature dachshund Lola was taken from the garden of the Old Thatched Inn in Stanton Under Bardon, Leicestershire, at around 10.30pm on Wednesday, January 29.

She has black and tan fur and a mustard yellow collar, and may have the appearance of being pregnant, with an enlarged tummy.

Lola has three puppies aged just three weeks old and she is still lactating, with the risk that she could get an infection.

Ms Wright said of the newborns:

“They are weaning and they are doing well and thriving.

“I’m just lucky they are at the stage they are where they can be weaned.

“They are doing the best they can, but they don’t have their mother to help with what they would usually get from her.”

Leicestershire Police say inquiries are ongoing.
