Today: Cloudy and windy start but mainly dry. Rain soon moving into the Peak District, with gusty downpours likely as rain clears southeast around midday, perhaps with brief hill snow. Turning colder, with sunshine and showers following, wintry across the hills.
Tonight: Cold, with clear spells and wintry showers, easing by midnight, and any snow restricted to hills. Cloudier and milder in the northwest by dawn, colder with frost possible elsewhere.
Friday: Dry and bright for most, but windy. Thicker cloud in the northwest also spreading south and east through the day. Some persistent rain and drizzle moving into far northwestern hills.
