The UK Commonwealth Games Federation (CGF) have allowed India to hold separate shooting and archery events in January 2022, six months before the official 2022 Games in Birmingham.
The move follows a threatened boycott by India after shooting was dropped from the 2022 schedule.
The event will be held in Chandigarh, the capital of the northern Indian states of Punjab and Haryana, and is scheduled to be staged in January 2022.
Birmingham set to stage the 2022 Commonwealth Games from 27th July to 7th August 2022.
Chandigarh 2022 and Birmingham 2022 will be two separately organised and funded Commonwealth Sport events.
I am delighted that we have approved India’s ambitious proposal to host a Commonwealth Archery and Shooting Championships in Chandigarh during 2022.
