A man has been arrested after using a digger to flee the scene of a theft at 3mph.
Police were called just after 3.20am yesterday (March 9) to a report of a digger being stolen from a building site in Basford, Nottinghamshire.
They were notified after a member of the public was woken up by a loud banging sound and saw the digger being driven away.
Officers found the vehicle and after it failed to stop, smashed the windows to pull the driver from the digger.
A 35-year-old man was then arrested on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle and driving while disqualified.
